Self Assessment - Danielle O'Neill

In terms of leadership, I believe that one of my strongest characteristics is commitment. As a leader, I feel that many people better understand when one leads by example, using actions and words to convey one's message effectively. Being committed means being serious about the task at hand, which requires becoming an integral part of the team. One other strength that I believe I possess is my ability to stay well informed in order to get involved within the company. An authentic leader is dedicated to developing themselves and their peers by gaining the knowledge that it takes to better themselves and the others around them.
One of my potential weaknesses is the astute use of power. I like to be in control of most situations, and I often believe that the end result of group work may not be as great as if I would have completed the project on my own. I have realized that being a leader doesn't mean being a dictator, it means working with others for the best possible outcome.

I also believe in commitment to one business firm. Managers have to lead by example where they let the employees see that they are going to be working twice as hard to get the job done right and effectively. Employees notice these types of things and become better and work harder. Teams are not always the best things to have, but sometimes in a business atmosphere you need to have more than one view point from different types of people.

Commintment is a great quality. Working in a group with commited people makes it a very enjoyable experience. Lack of commitment always leads to problems.

Danielle,
I think that you would be a great leader cause you understand your strength and weaknesses. The fact that you realize and understand that being a leader is not just dictating tasks, it is to listen and talk to fellow employees about the task at hand. I feel that a lot of leaders take to much control and it is important that you understand an effective leader is not a dictator.
